When I was a kid, I tried stupid ass trick shots in my driveway.
You know what I’m talking about. We’d shoot from the front porch by the mailbox, and that was called the “Mailman Shot”. We had a Halloween ghost hanging in the garage, and “Kiss the Ghost” was throwing the ball on the roof, run in the garage, kiss the ghost, catch it off one bounce, and shoot it.
These were probably converted 1/10 times, if that. Which makes this guy’s accomplishments that much better.
That is hilarious. And I firmly believe that if cheap cameras and editing software had been available to me at a young age, I would probably be retired at this point.
If I recorded half of the stupid stuff I did when I was a kid, I would be an internet superstar. One time I was jumping on my trampoline, and tried to do a back flip, land it, and go directly into a front flip. When I tried to do the front flip, I flew off the trampoline and came literally inches from sharp sticks coming out of the ground, which kind of resembled bamboo traps in Vietnam (I was totally there).
Another time I was playing Flashlight Tag with friends, and I ran directly into a bug zapper that wasn’t turned on, making it pretty much invisible. How many times would you watch some dumb kid run face first into a bug zapper?
How about the time I jumped off of a coffee table to do an “NBA Jam” type dunk on my mini hoop in the basement, only to hit my head on a support beam and needing stitches?
Sure, these events sucked when they happened, but had my friends been recording them, I could’ve ended up like the “Star Wars Kid” or “David After the Dentist”.
Yeah, I’d be famous for something completely embarrassing, and I’d be made fun of by millions of people, but at least I’d have something to show my kids.
On second thought, maybe it’s better off this way. Crying after getting the wind knocked out of you when you were 12 and coming within inches of needing major reconstructive surgery would probably come back to haunt me in the long run. For the record, the back flip was badass [citation needed].
