As I mentioned this morning, Braylon Edwards was arrested for DUI at 5:15 am, and his BAC was twice the legal limit.

First of all, if you didn’t know what Braylon Edwards looked like, you’d probably assume this was some random drunk dude off the street.  This picture cracks me up.  His left eye is squinty and smaller than his right, and it seems as though all of his facial hair is pushed towards the left side of his face.

That’s not the point of this post, however.

Was he not aware that there are probably more than a million cabs in NYC?  Seriously.  For a man making over $6 million this year, he can certainly afford a cab.  Or, you know, have a personal driver.  Besides a good money man, that is probably the first thing I’d invest in if I were in his situation.

But being a member of the New York Jets, that really isn’t even necessary.  The organization has a safe ride program, which will send a driver to come pick you up if you’ve had too much to drink or find yourself in a bad situation.

I think I know why he decided to drive himself:  he’s a showoff.  I remember reading an article asking why celebrities and athletes simply don’t hire drivers, so these situations can always be avoided.  As we all know, some of these guys are extreme egomaniacs, and they want to show off their $300,000 car.  What’s the point of spending the money on the car if you can’t be seen driving it?  Unfortunately, a lot of people’s minds work that way.

Look, everybody makes mistakes, but in this particular instance, in my opinion, it is even worse.  Especially considering he was drinking with Donte’ Stallworth hours before he hit that man in Miami.  You would think that would be a bit of an eye opener for him.

I just can’t wait to find out how he’s going to blame the police for arresting him based on the fact he went to Michigan.
