Just before Ohio State’s 43-7 victory over Ohio University, their mascot, Rufus, ran out on the field and tackled Ohio State’s mascot, Brutus.
Check out the video.
As details of this event emerge, it turns out that it was basically the kid’s life goal to tackle Brutus.
This guy tried out to be Rufus the Bobcat with the sole intention of bringing Brutus to the ground. Let’s think about this for a second. Now I have no idea how extensive the tryout process is, but you have to think that he had to dedicate a decent amount of hours to go through the whole tryout, and win the job.
Then he plotted his plan, and presumably did some recon work to figure out exactly where to be on the field to get to Brutus in the most efficient way possible.
For how hype he had to have been, he doesn’t even get him on the first try! Brutus stiff arms him like Terrelle Pryor, then Rufus has to hawk him from behind.
Obviously he can’t engage in this behavior, so you figure that he’s going to be reprimanded by the university, right? Nope. Pretty hard to do that when you’re not even a student at the school.
So to wrap things up, this is just some guy who probably lives in Athens, hates Brutus for whatever reason, dedicates time and effort to become the mascot of a school you don’t even attend, then embarrass yourself in front of the whole country. Oh and now everybody knows that your goal in life was to do something super lame. Something tells me he doesn’t really have a lot happening right now.
Way to go, loser.
UPDATE: Here is an interview he did with some website. I was right. He’s a loser. He’d been planning this since last year.

while you continue to write irrationally stupid blog posts, this kid is doing things with his life.

I struggle to think of a more awesome event in recent sporting news.
Not only is that my gut reaction to this news story, the OU mascot truly epitomizes the elements that makes athletics great – dedication, commitment, perseverance, and contact sports.

Let’s review the situation. A guys gets off his butt and accomplishes his goal of tackling one of the silliest college mascots (a buckeye?). Showing who really is THE university of Ohio and you call him a loser. And you sit on your butt criticizing folks for accomplishing life-long goals. So great was what he did that they featured him on ESPN. C’mon man, don’t be a hater. You’re the loser.

Bridget, this dude is a loser.
And although he was dressed as a bobcat, he himself is not a Bobcat.

Love love loved the beat down of Brutus the butt nut. Particularly enjoyed how the entire cheer leading squad and football team let butt nut fend for himself. Apparently indifference runs rampant in Columbus. And for the record, OSU will ALWAYS be a “State” school. Suck it OSU!
